Doug Roy

Doug Roy handles litigation matters with an emphasis on employment and intellectual property. He also serves as outside general counsel for clients.

Doug handles all aspects of business disputes for a range of clients, including publicly traded companies, REITs, production companies, private equity firms, non-profits, and entrepreneurs. By economically resolving critical intellectual-property, business, and HR issues, he takes pressure off his clients so they can focus on their work.

In his employment practice, Doug represents both employers and employees. He handles wage-and-hour claims, harassment and discrimination, termination issues, and class action and PAGA claims. Doug also advises employers on compliance and HR matters to increase efficiency and avoid litigation.

In his role as outside GC, Doug works closely with photographers, designers, and artists, as well as with the managers, producers, and agents who team with them. He devotes the attention necessary to understand the issues, objectives, and challenges that are unique to the business of art. “My clients trust that I understand them and their business well enough to catch issues without having to be asked. With every client, I get to immerse myself in a new creative world.”

Handling business and legal issues is creative work for Doug. “There is no script and there are a hundred different ways to approach an issue. I work hand-in-hand with my client to find what makes the best sense financially. I am here to help my clients get their product to market, and help them protect it once it’s there.”
