Cypress LLP is representing Grupo Cultural AfroReggae — a Brazilian not-for-profit organization that promotes cultural and social entrepreneurism, music and the arts justice programs in the favelas (i.e.,<\/i> slums) — in a lawsuit against Google Inc. The lawsuit alleges that Google used, without proper attribution, AfroReggae\u2019s idea of digitally mapping the vast, poverty-ridden favelas surrounding Rio de Janeiro. Previously, the favelas were literally \u201cgray space\u201d on digital maps. The lawsuit alleges that Google used AfroReggae\u2019s idea to promote itself during the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
